Since St. Augustine is known for its attractions in the old city, including Fort Matanzas, many couples may be wondering if St. Augustine is the right choice for beach weddings. Situated along the Atlantic Ocean, StAugustine’s pristine beaches we use for weddings include Vilano Beach north of the city to Butler Beach and Anastasia State Park. The area’s beaches feature a fishing pier, waterfront restaurants, pavilions, and shops. The beach is about 5 miles from the downtown historic area. Let’s answer some questions to help you make a decision regarding this lovely (and lively) location for your wedding day.

Is it better to stay at the beach or in the city?

The beautiful and clean beaches of St. Augustine can best be enjoyed if you stay at a hotel at the beach. With many good restaurants to suit every taste and budget, it is easy to walk out to the beach without having to find or pay for parking. To get the best of both worlds, why not buy a ticket for a trolley tour and you can ride the shuttle bus (and the trolley train) to old town St Augustine to see all the attractions there.

Vilano Beach

Tucked away in this charming little beach town you’ll find shopping, fun eateries and beach cottages to rent. The town of Vilano Beach offers a charming Art Deco look, and this local beach is wonderful. However, Vilano Beach is undergoing a refresh project as part of a post-storm recovery effort so it may not be available for weddings until later in 2021. We recommend you ask us about this location and we can find out for you.

St. Augustine Main Beach

Everything is here for the ideal beach vacation—sunny accommodations, tropical seaside restaurants, a beachfront park with an impressive fishing pier, pavilion, splash park and sand volleyball. Plus, a relaxed attitude. This is a great beach for families, and has a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. The harder packed sand is perfect for riding a bike or taking a romantic walk together at sunset.

Anastasia State Park

Located on Anastasia Island, with 1,600 acres, including four miles of pristine beach, tidal salt marshes and hammock preserves, Anastasia State Park has just about everything a wedding couple could ask for! Once you arrive at Anastasia Park Beach, you’ll realize that it’s the perfect wedding destination. Imagine standing in front of the crystal clear ocean with your toes in the velvet sand saying “I do” to the one you love. Your family and friends will never forget the day they witnessed your vows in this natural paradise. There are plenty of opportunities for our beach wedding photographer to capture every memory, like the couple below who married with our Rustic Romance ceremony package.
