How to Plan a Florida Gulf Beach Microwedding

If you want an intimate marriage celebration but don’t want to miss out on the excitement of choosing wedding decor, flowers, music and more, then you might want to plan a microwedding. You can still have your family and friends participate in every part of your special day, just on a smaller scale.

What is a microwedding?

It is NOT an elopement where usually it is just the couple tying the knot. A microwedding is a scaled-down version of a traditional wedding, except there will be less guests: usually under 50 and often much smaller. This type of ceremony gives you all the delight of planning and hosting a decorated wedding: with officiant, wedding arch, walking down the aisle, first dance and more. It is a custom styled, on trend wedding day on a smaller budget, and in a safer manner. If you choose a beach venue, you will be outdoors which is the best choice for weddings right now!

Plan Early

Destination weddings in the US continue to be very popular with outdoor ceremonies taking top place. Many beach wedding companies are booking into 2022 so securing your preferred wedding date is a top priority for engaged couples.  According to the 2020 Wedding Report by Wedding Wire, the top wedding dates were:

  • October 10
  • June 20
  • September 19
  • October 17
  • September 12

Now if you are planning a beach ceremony in Florida, you have your pick of dates most the year due to the warm weather. The average couple is engaged for 15 months but should start planning early. With a microwedding on the Gulf beaches of Florida, planning early is vital to getting the date and beach location you want.

The best part about a micro-wedding, or small wedding in Florida, is that you can get lots of help with planning. A reputable beach wedding company can assist you with picking out wedding decorations, vows, music and more. We know the tide times, sunset time, and the best beaches to meet your dream wedding needs. We can also make local recommendations for you to have a reception or intimate dinner with your guests. This saves you lots of time, headaches and cash!

Gulf Beach Locations

On the west coast of Florida you will find the white sandy beaches, emerald water and glorious sunsets, but beach wedding prices often vary by location. Many of our couples choose Siesta Key or Lido Key near Sarasota for their ceremony. It’s a very popular spot to fish, sun or experience shopping and dining in an upscale atmosphere. A permit is required for Siesta Key events, but it is worth it because the main beach area has hundreds of parking spots, and is easily accessible for all your guests. It’s definitely one of the best beach weddings in Florida.

Clearwater Beach and St. Petersburg Beach are equally as popular, being close to Tampa. Having a Gulf beach wedding ceremony on one of these beachfronts will give you memories to last a lifetime. The vibe is so relaxed and you can count on this charming area to provide you with daily activities such as dolphin watching, watersports, boating or just walking through the gentle tide. St. Pete is just one of the area beaches you can choose to get married on.

Further south, you can choose Fort Myers for a completely different Gulf of Mexico experience. Shells and sugary sand make this an ideal location to tie the knot. So relaxing! And taking a boat tour to Key West is a highlight you won’t want to miss.

Around the Florida panhandle, you will find Destin Beach which is a highly sought after wedding destination. You will need a permit to get married on any of the Destin area beaches but if you love stunning beaches this might be the choice for you! The sun dipping low over the Gulf of Mexico is breathtaking.

Wedding Ceremony Options

As mentioned above, a microwedding is still a fully decorated ceremony with all the bells and whistles. If a bride uses our Florida Beach Weddings company her best choice for beauty and customization is one of our Distinctive Design wedding packages which can satisfy all of your Florida wedding ideas. They have large bamboo or wooden wedding arches draped in material or with other accents such as starfish or flowers. Greenery aisleways and other details can be customized as well as color schemes and chair bands. With these wedding ceremony packages, the couple is announced with a large wooden “chalkboard” sign and a Unity Sand Ceremony is part of their vows. We coordinate your ceremony, officiate it and legally file your Florida marriage license. You can also use your own minister or officiant too, if you prefer.

Event livestreams

Zoom wedding ceremonies are also very popular right now and can be used at a beach microwedding. Guests who are unable to attend the live marriage  celebration can still participate from a distance.

Your Wedding Dress

Like a traditional wedding, the bride can choose the dress she loves. A long wedding gown or short, beachy dress is perfect with your special beach wedding bouquet! Many brides choose lace and small straps or strapless styles are very popular. Surprisingly, our brides do often wear a veil, although this can be an issue with the ocean breeze. However, the choice is yours so you can feel beautiful on your special day.

Don’t Forget Professional Wedding Photography

When it is sunset time, you will be glad you picked a Gulf beach for your wedding day! Our professional photography can be added to your already inexpensive beach wedding package for a small fee. It gets you extra time down by the ocean with your beloved, extra poses as a bride and with your guests. We don’t recommend you leave wedding pictures up to a friend or relative who might miss a shot, or take blurry photos…plus you want them to enjoy the day too!

Outdoor Dining or Reception

Outdoor dining in Florida is one of the nicest things you can do. For a reception, if you are only having a few guest tables, a beautiful view and lovely decorations will delight your wedding party and guests (Siesta Key, Treasure Island and Venice Beach are some choices). This is one of the nicest things about a beach microwedding: it is intimate in a way you can’t always experience with a larger group.

Legal filing of your Florida marriage license is included in our wedding planning service when married by our officiant. It’s just one less thing to worry about. So why not consider a micro-wedding on a Florida Beach? Let us help you with dates, wedding packages, Gulf beach locations and more. Contact us today.

Escape And Elope To A Florida Beach

Now that many of us are staying (and many working) at home to slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, engaged couples including those who were only weeks away from tying the knot, have had to abruptly postpone or rethink their plans for their special day. This is frustrating and, as the winter months approach, you and your fiancé may be yearning to escape from it all! We don’t blame you…and the good news is you CAN still have a wedding ceremony in a safe environment, and celebrate with family and friends, if you wish. You and your partner can celebrate safely at an outdoor wedding where there is air circulation and lots of space. Where? A Florida beach of course which is perfect just about any day of the year!

Why not choose one of our Gulf Beach wedding locations? This sweet couple embraces with the stunning Gulf water and sunset behind them on Clearwater Beach. The white sand and emerald sea never disappoints, especially for a romantic elopement ceremony with the two of you alone.

The couple below chose St. Augustine for their elopement ceremony. Even if it is just the two of you, the bride and groom can still dress in full wedding finery, as this couple did for their Florida Simply wedding ceremony. The wonderful thing about this package is that it is an all-inclusive wedding: photography, an officiant for your vows, decorations and legal filing of their Florida marriage license. No wedding planning by the couple necessary – they just obtained their marriage certificate and showed up at the beach!

Cocoa Beach is a very popular location and will be again once the cruise ships return to sailing. However, by itself Cocoa is still a beautiful beach with lots of Atlantic wave action and entertainment options for the just married couple. It’s also the closes beach to Orlando and part of the Space Coast.

If you are looking for a small, simple and affordable elopement ceremony then our Daytona Heart in The Sand package may be the right choice for you. This is a true escape experience to the sun and sea! Daytona area beaches are beautiful almost all year round and the variety of oceanfront venues gives you lots of choices. This romantic, complete package has everything you need except the stress! Photographer, officiant, vows, and up to 4 guests. Of course, it can just be the two of you if you choose. This popular Elopement Package can be booked up to 6 months in advance.

Siesta Key…need we say more? The couple below chose a slightly larger wedding with our Natural Distinctive Design ceremony package. With stunning decorations, a decorated aisle and guest chairs, it is a great choice for family and friends to witness your love. As you can see, a long or short wedding dress can be worn at a beach elopement…it’s up to you. Many couples choose an intimate dinner after their elopement ceremony, however if you have a larger wedding party, our staff of Beach Wedding Specialists can make recommendations for a reception venue close to your beach location.

Right now, most major health experts still recommend staying away from big crowds, so why not consider an elopement ceremony or very small wedding in Florida? You can still be following all the guidelines outdoors. In fact, it is forecasted that in 2021 outdoor weddings will be more common during the pandemic. We applaud this approach and have been helping couples do this for years. And just because couples have to scale back their wedding size  doesn’t mean their celebrations will be less special. Just look how pretty these weddings are and they are just so stress free!

Now, if you do decide to change your current wedding plans and elope, you will need to notify your guests of this change. Fortunately, the Knot website offers some email templates you can use for this purpose. The Knot goes on to say: Among 750 guests surveyed in The Knot 2020 Guest Study, 71% of guests prefer to receive health and safety measures before they RSVP. Within this set, 63% of respondents said they’d like PPE information; 60% expressed interest in the overall guest count.

Quite a few couples have chosen an elopement wedding in Florida with us and have been so happy with the results. Our bride Dari wrote, “We used Florida Beach Weddings for our intimate ceremony in October. Due to COVID-19 we had to delay our wedding by 5 months. Although it was frustrating for us, Pam made the process go smoothly. Any questions were always answered promptly. If you want a stress free beach wedding, Florida Beach Weddings is for you. Highly recommend.”

Our bride Brittany wrote, “I am absolutely thrilled with how my wedding played out. The decor was elegant and beachy. It was everything I’d dreamed of and more. Getting married during a pandemic could have been stressful but they were very professional and accommodating making the process smooth. Thank you for making my day special!”

Break Away To A Butler Beach Wedding

The Beach Location

Kaylee and Brandon said, “I do” in July at Butler Beach, just south of St. Augustine Beach, Florida. Butler Beach on Anastasia Island is only eight miles from St. Augustine’s historic district. Wide stretches of white sand beach makes it the perfect location for a beach wedding ceremony. Butler Beach offers free parking, restrooms, showers, barbecue grills, and picnic pavilions.

The Bride

The bride’s beautiful lace wedding dress included a train that trailed beautifully behind her in the sand. Her father walked beside her to give her away at the beach ceremony. Kaylee and Brandon chose to write their own personalized vows which were witnessed by 50 guests. Music on their custom playlist included, “Marry You” by Bruno Mars. Our wedding ceremony coordinator, Pam, officiated as they tied the knot under this black bamboo wedding arch.

The Ceremony

The couple had one groomsman and one bridesmaid, who looked splendid in her purple gown. They had a Unity Sand Ceremony to symbolize their new life together after marriage. This was was included in their Destiny package. The bride chose coral (tropical delight) and blue as well as beautiful tiki torches to highlight the black bamboo of this wedding package design (natural bamboo is available too). Purple chair bands adorned the white guest chairs. The tiki poles were connected with strands of small white seashells with small purple flowers on the strands. So pretty!

Tie the Knot on Pass-A-Grille Beach, St. Pete

The Beach Venue

Pass-A-Grille is located at the southernmost end of St. Pete Beach. Historic Pass-A-Grille is a laid back beach town where you can easily walk to the beach, visit boutiques, have an ice cream or drink, dine out at restaurants, or walk on fishing piers. Laneasha and Anthony were married in June under the canopy of their beautiful Tropical Distinctive Design complete wedding package. The bride walked toward her beloved Anthony and was given to him in marriage as the Gulf beach water sparkled in the background.

The Wedding Party

They had 50 guests and a bridal party that included a groomsman, ring bearers, a flower girl, a junior bridesmaid and one Woman of Honor. The bridesmaids walked individually down the Tiki torch lined aisle. Starfish and green ferns guided them through the white guest chairs accented in a tropical orange color.

The Wedding Vows

Laneasha and Anthony had their own minister officiate the beach ceremony. They also included an optional seashell blessing and Sand Ceremony. The sand colors were white and bride orange, and they brought their own unity glass to use and cherish forever.

Ceremony Music

The music playlist for this couple’s beach ceremony was used for the bridal party to walk down the aisle, the bride to walk down the aisle, and a song for after the kiss! They chose:

  • Bridal Party: The Blessing by Kari Jobi, Cody Carnes
  • Bride Walk: This is Why I Love You by MAJOR
  • After Kiss: Cruisin’ by Smokey Robinson

The Beach Wedding Package

Consultations by phone and email with our Beach Wedding Specialist were included and we made sure the bride had a final beach wedding ceremony agenda and Pass-A-Grille location instructions to share with her wedding guests. A large wooden “chalkboard” sign announced the new couple as well. The guests also enjoyed chilled water so they could stay cool during the vow ceremony. This couple used tropical orange as an accent color for their  chairbands, but a bride can customize this to her own style.

Wedding Photography

Choosing a wedding photographer was easy for this couple who used our professional photographer to capture their memories of this special day in St. Pete. Many shots of their wedding ceremony were taken, as well as fun and romantic pictures down by the Gulf water and with family and friends.

A Crystal Clearwater Beach Wedding Day

Andy and Julee tied the knot in October at this Beach wedding venue. This popular Gulf beach venue is located in Clearwater Beach near Tampa. The white sand is what everyone loves about the Clearwater Beach area! The Distinctive Design wedding package they chose is called the Starfish Distinctive Design because it has large white starfish cascading down the back of the large bamboo canopy and two large starfish in the front corners. Julee walked, with her boys, toward the matching bamboo pole aisle-way with starfish accents and greenery to meet Andy and say, “I do”.

The Bride

Ivory draping on the bamboo arch went with the bride’s simple, yet elegant, spaghetti strap wedding gown. They also had a large wooden chalkboard sign announcing their new marriage. Beautiful music played for their wedding ceremony procession; they chose to walk together down the sandy aisle to say their forever vows. Songs played included, “What a Wonderful World”. Our wedding officiant and ceremony coordinator, Tyler, gave the newly joined couple the spotlight under the bamboo arch at the end of the ceremony (photo below).

The Ceremony

With over 40 guests, this couple added the optional seashell blessing after the ceremony which was included in their package. They also took part in a Sand Ceremony with turquoise and white sand as their color choices. They got to keep the vase to remember their special day with their family. Julee’s attendant (a daughter) wore a one-shoulder, aqua blue bridesmaid dress which was so pretty…it was also the color choice for the sashes on the bride and groom’s white guest chairs.

You can see how soft and pretty the draping and starfish hanging down behind this couple is (pictured below). Their all inclusive beach wedding package choice made the whole day easy for them. The blue sky and water in the background are what dream weddings are made of. Julee and Andy will remember this day forever and we hope they will return to Clearwater Beach for future anniversaries!

Congratulations, Julee and Andy! Julee was kind enough to leave us a five star Google review: “Florida beach weddings did an excellent job for my wedding on October 3, 2020. They were flexible with working with a few small details I wanted changed and had everything set up just like I asked. Any future brides I would highly recommend using this company.”  Contact us today about your Florida wedding plans.

Kristi and Blake’s Fort Walton Beach Wedding

Kristi and Blake were lucky in love as they recited their vows in September at this Gulf beach wedding ceremony. The white, fluffy sand on Fort Walton Beach, Florida could be mistaken for snow but it was warm at this dream beach wedding venue! Their Nautical Knot wedding package is one of our most popular, and this couple chose the hot pink and white fabric to compliment the tropical flowers that topped their bamboo arch. They added colorful Tiki torches down the aisleway and coral bands for their white guest chairs. The groomsmen waited with the groom, and the bridesmaids walked down individually. They also had a ringbearer.

This bride and groom chose their own officiant to tie the knot.

The music they added was a customized playlist of their most cherished songs for their special day: a mixture of guitar and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship. Even the cloudy day could not diminish their joy as they posed down by the Gulf beach water. What a perfect barefoot wedding picture!
